Spring outage work is very busy for our members across the Central Region. We have many automotive and power-generation projects taking place now or coming up at various sites as well as paper-mill and refinery work.
Please reach out to your business agent and put yourself on the out-of-work list if you are available for work. If you are traveling outside of your home local jurisdiction for work, check in with the local that has jurisdiction where you are procuring work.
Please take advantage of all opportunities to enhance your skill sets (forklift, welding, aerial lift, rigging) through the training department. As always, let’s do things right the first time, on time, every time while being safe, professional, and productive!
We are working with the following contractors at the listed facilities.
Local 1554:
Roy Blackwell enterprises continues work at continues at Valero.
Tron Mechanical is continuing their work at Kellogg’s in Memphis, TN, and is expected to last long term.
Siemens is ramping for a project at the TVA Brownsville facility in late February and will last through March 2022.
ASI continues with their project at General Motors and is expected to last for six more months.
The Springhill, TN General Motors, and the new battery plant projects are well underway and are going well.
Ford’s Blue oval city project is currently underway with their civil and underground utilities.
S&H Erectors will need ten millwrights to work at ADM Southern Cellulose starting Feb 21st.
We currently need four stainless steel welders for Shimmick Const. At the Chickamauga Lock & Dam.
In addition, Shimmick Const. may need 10 millwrights for days and 15 for nights at Chickamauga.

Local 1192:
Day & Zimmerman has a project to begin at Plant Miller and will be needing 12 Millwrights for approximately 11 weeks.
APM is kicking off their Spring 42-day outage at Plant Miller.
CR Meyer has a project ramping up at Counce Papermill and will be needing 17 Millwrights working two shifts on a 7/10 schedule.
Johnson Construction will also be needing 3-5 millwrights for a 5-7 day project at Counce, TN, papermill.
Craig Construction needs 9 Millwrights for a 2-4 week project at the papermill in Counce, TN.
