Local 216:
Local 216 has had work pick up across Arkansas and Oklahoma. We have millwrights working for Walbridge at a Wal-Mart distribution center in Bentonville, and this is the first time we’ve been inside that facility. We also have millwrights working at Kimberly Clark in Conway, with another project coming up at Tokusen in Conway with CCC. Crow Industrial, one of our newest contractors, has a small project at Conagra, and APM is working at Independence Generating Station. The biggest news for this update is that Andritz Hydro has possible work coming up at Norfolk Dam that could employ several millwrights for a very long time.
Local 729:
Local 729 has been busy throughout September and October with petrochemical, power-gen, and papermill work. There are outages coming up at Big Cajun, Dow St. Charles, and Valero St. Charles. We will have several full-time, long-term, facilities-maintenance positions coming up for several hospitals in the New Orleans area.
Local 729 recently received its FULL roll back from the council because it had zero members in arrears. This is a HUGE accomplishment, and I want to congratulate Business Agent Mike Hines, the 729 Executive Board, and all the 729 millwrights on a job well done. Keeping your dues current ensures your local receives as much money from the rollback as possible and also keeps you eligible for dispatch to jobs. Keep up the good work!
Local 1421:
Tesla work is still ongoing for Local 1421. The projects have scaled back a bit, but we are expecting a large call out for millwrights sometime in the next month. There has been recent work at Gatorade installing a new line as well as several power-gen projects across North Texas. We also recently picked up full-time, facilities-maintenance positions out in Midland, Texas, at the Midland Memorial Hospital. There is still ongoing work at GM in Arlington, keeping our millwrights busy, and there is a possibility of holiday outages at the end of the year.
Local 2232:
Local 2232 has been wide open since the end of August. Our most recent projects include several turbine outages for Calpine, CPS in San Antonio, and Exelon. We have had a huge amount of petro-chem turn-arounds between Shell, CP Chem, Exxon, Baystar, Ineos, Dow, Motiva, Convestro, and Lyondell. We also continue to have ongoing work at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport, with the possibility of more as they are going to completely rework Terminal E. We had a project at Toyota in San Antonio and continue to have ongoing maintenance and expansion work there as well.
