In the Western Region of the SSMRC, work has continued to be plentiful with even more on the schedule.
Power generation projects across all four states have kept many millwrights working all year and the petrochemical market has exploded in the Gulf Coast.
We are actively recruiting experienced mechanics if you know someone that would be an asset to your local and the SSMRC. If you are a millwright looking to work in the Gulf Coast then you should make getting your TWIC a priority. Many locals or training programs have a system in place to get you a TWIC – even some state unemployment agencies will pay for it.
We are expecting several projects to begin in late April through mid-May that will require around 250 millwrights that will keep the ball rolling right into the summer months.
For our members of Local 2232, this is a reminder that there are currently major incentives to getting your NCCER Basic and Advanced Rigger certifications. Reach out to Dwight Murrah or Victor Sanchez to get the details.
For our members of Local 1421, please reach out to Thomas Brown to discuss your training certifications. We are three months away from the deadline to reach the goal of the safety and skills incentive in the contract. Reaching this goal could be worth $1.75 on your wage package.
