Nuclear Update – April 2023

SSMRC Brothers and Sisters,

After listening to comments and concerns with the current dispatch methods utilized by the SSMRC Nuclear Office, we have decided to work toward improving the system for our members.

The SSMRC IT Department has been working closely with Tahoe Interactive Systems, better known as MIX2020. Through their joint efforts, they have developed a text dispatch option for the SSMRC and our members registered in the MIX2020 system.

Member concerns ranged from they could not hear a clear message, to not enough time to take notes on a dispatch call. With the new text dispatch, you have 5 minutes to read the dispatch, which will have all the information needed for a member to make a decision and accept the dispatch. After reading the dispatch text, you will have 2 minutes to respond to the dispatch. The message will include vital information such as where to report, date to report, and who to report to, along with payrate and any other important information we feel necessary for you to decide.

No need to take notes or try to remember what was said in a dispatch call. The distributed information will be in your text message for as long as you keep it.

You can register for text dispatching by clicking here. We encourage all our members to register.

“I encourage all SSMRC Members to register on the MIX2020, by registering with and accepting dispatches through MIX2020, a member is building a resume and a job history with little to no effort,” said SSMRC Executive Secretary-Treasurer, Wayne Jennings. “ The system gathers the who, what, when, and where of every time a member interacts with it. A member can then call their business representative anytime in the future and get their work history. This is a great tool to track the where, when, and for who they have worked. This also gives the union the information needed to track down benefit contributions if there is ever and issue or discrepancy. The business representative can easily look up who worked what projects if there is an opportunity to dispatch members due to emerging work, where the employer may need someone that has a current badge for that site. MIX2020 is not the be all, answer all to job placement but it is a tool that tracks a ton of important information that allows our union to serve the member and the partnering contractor more efficiently. We are working to achieve a job dispatching system that streamlines the process, while at the same time benefiting everyone participating. I have strongly encouraged our business representatives to follow the SSMRC MIX2020 dispatch guidelines, and I strongly suggest the members to utilize the tools provided.”
