There are hundreds of millwright positions coming up in March spread out between the four states of the Western Region of the SSMRC. We have multple power generation projects kicking off the first week of March and the petrochemical industry has been running hard since January and will increase exponentially as we get into March. The following list are items that will help our membership take advantage of these opportunities.
- Be on the available for work list if you want to work
- Keep an open line of communication with your Business Representative
- Keep your training current and utlize any opportunities to train between projects
- If you want to work in the Gulf Coast get a TWIC
- Most jobs are requiring an ID and Utility Bill with a matching address to qualify for per diem – make sure to have these readily available
- If you do not have a resume or work history it will benefit you to put one together and keep it updated periodically. We are receiving more requests from customers for this type of information
We need good mechanically skilled people in a bad way. If you know someone who has transferable skills that would represent us well in the field, please refer them your local. If your local doesn’t have work – refer them to the locals that do. We are all one team and providing the skilled labor so badly needed for our partnering contractors will only improve our chances of future work for everyone.
Finally as a reminder for LOCAL 2232 and LOCAL 1421 there are currently incentives on the line for you to complete specific training. Contact your business representative to be sure you have done your part!
