As we are wrapping up the fall 2021 outage season, and I am gathering information for the spring 2022 season. Although I have not received all schedules, I am hoping the spring outages are spread out enough to afford members the opportunity to work more than one outage. The fall schedule provided that opportunity to a very few.
Regarding the fall outage season, I thank all those who chose to stay in the SSMRC jurisdiction and help get us through a tightly scheduled season. The sacrifices you make not only by being on the road and away from your families but helping us maintain the outages by staying inside our jurisdiction are well recognized and greatly appreciated. Once again, the SSMRC millwrights stepped up to the plate and hit a home run.
Of the 523 millwright positions open during the fall season, 513 were filled across the 10 outages, utilizing 481 millwrights with 80% from the SSMRC and the rest from across the country. Despite the crunched schedule, COVID-19 precautions, and delays with in-processing, just to mention a few challenges, the SSMRC millwrights stood strong with patience and understanding.
Our partnering contractors also deserve praise for coordinating with the SSMRC Nuclear Office on report dates, lay-off schedules, and other factors. Thanks to everyone utilizing the partnership of the SSMRC Nuclear Office, we were able to satisfy the demands of our industry and our customers during trying times.
Thank you all!
